Planning a Bathroom Renovation in the Northern Beaches? We can help!
The bathroom is often a room where you go to relax away the stresses of the day, and if your bathroom is a little old, or simply not to your liking, you might want to consider having it renovated. Bathrooms in Northern Beaches should address both your physical and spiritual needs, and here are some important tips to help you ensure that your renovation accomplishes that.
1. Choosing Your Fixtures
If you want something attractive, with graceful lines choose a pedestal sink rather than a cabinet vanity. Additionally, a claw-foot style bathtub has an elegance and beauty that exceeds many acrylic versions.
2. Try Before you Buy
Well you cannot exactly try everything out, but you can sit in a bathtub before you purchase it to ensure it is the right size. While the largest bathtub in the store may seem appealing, a 60-inch tub is ideal for most people. It has enough room to stretch-out while providing a safe foothold so that you do not float when it is full.
Also, check out the lip and angled-back to ensure they are comfortable and offer adequate neck support. If you want a tub for two people, look for one that has the taps in the middle and slants at both ends. If your bathroom is small and you do not have much space, look for an extra-deep tub.
3. Choose Suitable Flooring
Stone, marble, and ceramic tiles are ideal choices for a bathroom floor as they are water-resistant and durable. For a warm, natural look, choose a well-sealed hardwood floor. If you do not want to step out of the bath or shower onto a cold floor, consider having your builder install subfloor-heating coils.
4. Building a Shower Area
Talk to your renovation builder about constructing an open-concept shower, as it is much less restricting than a regular shower stall and does not require a door or curtain. In order to keep the area outside the shower drier, your builder will need to install adequate drainage and a ceiling or high wall mounted showerhead that splashes less water such as a rain showerhead.
5. Buy a Quality Toilet
While you do not have to spend a huge amount of money on a toilet, you should not scrimp and buy the cheapest you can find. A good quality toilet should cost about $400, and a model with an elongated bowl and seat is typically the most comfortable.
6. Don’t Forget Lighting and Mirrors
A single mirror with a beautiful frame over the sink is much more attractive than many mirrored surfaces. If necessary, add a wall-mounted makeup mirror and a lighted mirror in the shower stall for shaving.
Good lighting is also important. Use a mixture of halogen lights and wall sconces over the mirror for a bright bathroom with no shadows.
